The brand

From a Lincoln Park studio to a modern accessories brand

Joycoast began when founder Reese O'Toole found traditional watches generic, heavy and uncomfortable. He missed wearing something on his wrist, so he explored what else a watch could be made from.

Wooden watches had existed for years, but many felt like a chunk of wood on the wrist. Reese saw an opportunity to make them lighter, more refined and more modern. He began designing from his Lincoln Park studio apartment and selling at every market and pop-up he could find.

Joycoast has since grown into a full sustainable accessories brand. It remains a family business, run with Reese's wife and inspired by their daughter, Harper. Reese's mom, dad and sister have also helped bring the brand to life at IMx.

Purpose in every product

Ten trees planted for every product sold

Joycoast uses sustainable materials and works to reduce reliance on harmful plastics. More than 200,000 trees have been planted to date. Food-producing trees create produce that helps feed families and uplift communities with significant need across Africa, where much of Joycoast's wood is sourced. All Joycoast wood comes from FSC-certified forests, meaning those forests are responsibly managed.
